Extract Pages copies the pages you choose out of a single PDF into a brand-new file and leaves your original document completely alone, so you can come back and pull a different set of pages later without starting from scratch. Mix single pages and ranges in one entry — something like 1, 3-5, 9 — and the result always comes back in ascending document order, even if you typed the ranges out of sequence; list a page twice and DocShift just keeps one copy of it. Nothing about the source file changes in the process, since extracting only ever reads from it and writes a separate output alongside it.
That's a different outcome from Remove Pages, which deletes pages directly from the source file instead of copying them elsewhere, and from Split PDF, which breaks an entire document into many separate files delivered as one ZIP. Extract Pages fits best when you want a single new PDF built from just a chapter, a signed section, or a handful of pages worth sharing on their own — a report excerpt for a colleague, or the one clause of a contract someone actually needs — while the rest of the original stays exactly as it was, ready to extract from again whenever you need a different slice of it.
Once you've pulled the pages you need, Merge PDF can combine that excerpt with another document, or Compress PDF can shrink it further before you send it on. If it turns out you wanted those pages gone from the original rather than copied out, Remove Pages is the tool built for that instead.
