Excel to PDF

Excel to PDF turns an XLS or XLSX spreadsheet into a fixed PDF layout using LibreOffice's spreadsheet engine, so an invoice, payroll sheet, or financial statement arrives looking the same on every screen instead of as an editable file someone downstream could reflow or accidentally change.

A spreadsheet's on-screen appearance depends on the column widths, zoom level, and print settings of whoever opens it, so handing someone the raw XLS or XLSX file means the same numbers can print differently depending on their setup. Converting to PDF locks in whatever print area and page layout the workbook already had, so a statement keeps its columns, totals, and formatting intact rather than reflowing sheet by sheet on a colleague's machine. The one case where the output can look different from what Excel itself would produce is a sheet that never had a print area defined — LibreOffice makes its own pagination choices there, which occasionally spreads a wide sheet across more pages than expected. Only one workbook converts per run, both the older .xls format and modern .xlsx are accepted, and the uploaded file is deleted from the server as soon as the PDF is generated — nothing about it is stored or kept afterward.

Before sending a finished statement somewhere sensitive, consider locking it with a password first, or blacking out specific figures if only part of the sheet should be shared.
