Crop PDF trims a fixed margin off every side of every page at once, using point values for the top, right, bottom, and left edges — 72 points equal one inch — or a Thin (15pt), Standard (30pt), or Wide (60pt) preset that fills in all four sides in one click. The same numbers apply uniformly across the whole document; there's no per-page override, so one setting reshapes every page identically, and because the values are fixed points rather than a percentage of each page, they trim the same physical amount whether the source is a compact A5 scan or a full-size A4 sheet. A built-in floor keeps things from going wrong: margins large enough to shrink a page below roughly half an inch in either direction are rejected with an error instead of silently producing a near-blank page.
Cropping here doesn't erase anything — it sets the page's visible boundary smaller rather than deleting content, so whatever sat outside your new margins (text, images, all of it) is still stored inside the file; it's simply outside the area a viewer or printer will show. That's the standard, spec-defined way PDF cropping works, and it means a crop you're unsure about isn't a one-way trip — running the tool again with different numbers redraws the boundary without any loss underneath. It's a natural way to trim the dark borders a flatbed scanner leaves around a page, and afterward reordering the results or squaring up orientation with Rotate PDF are common next steps — or if one scanned page came through entirely blank, deleting it beats cropping it down to a sliver.
